4 Tbs. honey
6 Tbs. extra virgin olive oil
2 heaping teaspoons cocoa
1/2 c. sugar in the raw
1/2 c. granulated sugar
6-10 Tbs. water
6-10 drops peppermint essential oil

Mix the honey, olive oil, and cocoa in a small bowl until thoroughly blended. In a larger bowl blend the sugar in the raw and granulated sugar together. Add the cocoa mixture to the sugar and mix well. Add water to get desired consistency. Add peppermint oil to desired scent.

In a warm shower, apply a small amount of mixture to the body. Scrub gently in circular motions. Rinse. Lightly pat the skin dry and follow with your favorite skin moisturizer to enhance the benefits.

The recipe yields approximately 1 1/3 cups of scrub. Package the scrub in small tin, glass, or plastic containers with lids. You can place a clear label with instructions for use on the outside of the container. Use ribbon, an old-fashioned peppermint stick, or a sprig of fresh holly for embellishment.

While you raise your spirits, why not perk up your body with a long bath to wash away the stressors of the day? This Vanilla-Ginger Milk Bath is not only divine, it is also a great treatment for dry winter skin.

Vanilla-Ginger Milk Bath

2 tsp. vanilla
3 tsp. ginger (freshly grated or powdered)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup dry milk

Mix vanilla, ginger, cinnamon to honey and blend.

Add the honey mixture and dry milk to warm running bath water. Relax and enjoy.

Notes

This bath is best enjoyed fresh. Do not mix larger quantities and store for future use.
To enhance the skin-softening benefits, use a loofah or coarse washcloth. Working from the upper chest down, massage each part of the body in circular motions while in the bath.
If unpeeled, fresh ginger can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three weeks. In the freezer, ginger will keep for up to six months.
For tubs with jets, this bath foams nicely. If using freshly grated ginger, consider placing it in a muslin tea bag before putting it in the bath to prevent the ginger from clogging the jets.

The pumpkin included in this scrumptious face & body masque contains natural enzymes which exfoliate, soften and smooth the skin. The spices help to increase circulation and the honey provides added moisture. Enjoy!

1 small pumpkin
1 cup yogurt
Juice from 1 lemon
1 Tbsp. honey
1/2 tsp. ginger (freshly grated, preferred)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

To Make:
1. Cut the pumpkin, removing skin and scooping out pulp. Place the flesh in a pot with a small amount of water.

2. Cook the pumpkin until mashable with a potato masher.

3. Remove from heat, mash pumpkin, and add yogurt, lemon juice, honey and spices. Use while still warm.

To Use:
1. Sit in the tub or shower and slather the warm pumpkin mixture all over your dry body and face. You may apply to your hair too, if you like. (Make sure hair is clean.)

2. Rest with the mixture on your body for 10 minutes.

3. Rinse off with warm water.

4. Pat the skin dry and follow with an application of your favorite body and face moisturizer. For hair after rinsing, follow with your favorite conditioner.

Creating a great-looking, delicious candy display table takes a certain amount of forethought and planning. From choosing the candy types to colors to how to display it all, the first step in creating a successful candy table is coming up with the overarching concept. Here’s how:

1. Begin by Outlining the Purpose of the Event

Quickly jot down who the party is for or what the crux of the celebration is about to suss out any potential inspiration points for the dessert table display.

2. Decide Upon a Theme

If it’s a graduation party, consider using candy in the school colors in the candy table buffet. For a birthday, incorporate the birthday boy or girl’s favorite types of dessert or candy. If it’s an engagement party, you can top mini cupcakes with faux engagement rings, or include ring pops in tall apothecary jars.

3. Choose Dessert Selection

Though candy bars are usually filled with – you guessed it – candy, many people are getting creative and providing a selection of other dessert treats. From brownie bites and lemon bars to mini cupcakes and tiny chocolate chip cookies, the possibilities are endless.

To choose the right dessert selection, consider the taste of your guests, as well as the guest of honor for the celebration.

You can include desserts and candies that fit a theme (such as Cracker Jack bags for a baseball-themed boy's birthday), or desserts and candies that have particular meaning for the guest of honor (mini version of Grandma’s banana bread pudding cups, a favorite childhood treat).

The more thought that goes into the selection of items for the candy table, the more personal and meaningful the display will be, and the more guests will appreciate and admire the end result.

For most of 2009 I have neglected this blog, I have kept busy posting on my family blog and facebook. Occassionally I hit Raspberry Lemonade to use it as a place where I have stored links to great blogs. As I strolled through here today I noticed that I have had 3000 hits in one year! So I thought how many hits would I get if I would put some effort into this! As part of my bucket list for 2010, I will be reviving Raspberry Lemonade!

God Is Not Dead, Nor Doth He Sleep

Thanksgiving. As Christmas conjures up thoughts of sugar plums, so Thankgiving conjures up thoughts of pumpkin pie, homemade rolls, cranberry sauce, golden brown turkey and family togetherness.

At least, Hallmark and Norman Rockwell tell us that's what we should think about Thanksgiving. Now, heaven knows I love a good relish tray, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, "wonton-thingys" and other homemade treats that come with the fourth Thursday in November.

At least, I hope Heaven knows. But is that really what Thanksgiving is all about?As I think about my blessings, I can't help but evaluate the way I express my gratitude to the Great Giver. Sometimes my prayers are less like the overflowing of a grateful heart and much more like a Christmas wish list.

"I'd really like a husband, a Mini Cooper, don't let any of my appliances break down, don't let anything happen to my little niece and nephew, take care of my mom and dad who are far away from me, please stretch my money as far as possible, please don't let my eggs run out before I can use them to have kids, help me find a great sale on shoes…" You get the point. Instead of saying "Amen" I should be blowing out the candles on my birthday cake!

When we do focus on how blessed we are, instead of how much we may lack, we put ourselves in a position to give to others. We recognize more easily that all we have is gifted and we don't want anyone to go without. When we're ungrateful, our self-focus keeps us from seeing anything but our own needs. It's interesting to me that Thanksgiving is the (or used to be before Christmas music started playing the day after Halloween! What is up with that???) beginning of the "holiday season". In November, we recognize how much we have, get all filled up with gratitude and love for the Giver and then turn outward to give to others. What a beautiful plan. But certainly there are times when things are just hard. We may find ourselves uttering the prayer, "Hope ya know I'm having a hard time." I strongly believe that God does know when we're having a hard time. And I believe He has plenty of comfort and blessing to go around; if we'll just ask Him, He'll give. Even when times are hard, we can be grateful for possibilities and promised blessings. Even the hope of a new day is truly a blessing. I remember being overwhelmed by a prayer my dear friend offered. "We thank Thee for the blessings of this day and for future promised blessings. We pray Thou wilt accept our gratitude." Hardly a holiday or family gathering goes by before this lovely woman will say, "Aren't we blessed?" And she is right. For me, Thanksgiving is inseparably connected with Christmas and Easter. All of the blessings I'm most grateful for have their root in these holidays – or rather – the true meaning of these holidays. Even in my most difficult moments, the promised blessings those holidays represent bring me great peace. I remember walking around the edge of the lake searching for the bodies of my sister and brother-in-law the morning after they had drowned in a boating accident. It is all still very surreal… And although I can vividly remember the cold wind, the sound of the water, the wet grass, my freezing toes, the heartache, I remember most of all the calm feeling that came when I offered the sincerely grateful prayer for my faith in eternity. In eternal families. In the reality and miracle of the Resurrection. For me, Thanksgiving is truly about Christmas which is truly about Easter. All related. All miraculous and Blessed. So this week (and always) look for the blessings. Find the miracles. And then give credit where credit is due: to those you love, those who love you, and mostly especially the Great Giver of All Blessings – our Heavenly Father. I promise that will make us all – including God – So Happy.

I love taking fabric and using it on other fun crafting projects besides just sewing or what you would typically expect. I have several projects I have done over the last couple of months and thought I would share them with you! So if you - or your kids - are itching for a little DIY project, here's a great one for the whole family!

Step 1: Gathering the supplies - you will need largecrafting "bubbles" with one side that is flat. You can use any size you like. Magnets - make sure your magnets are large enough to support the size of your bubbles. If they are too small the finished magnet will slowly slide down your refrigerator when you try to use it to actually hold any papers. Small pushpins with a flat head if possible. Craft glue - I prefer E600 - it's great for many projects, is clear and dries fast too. And then of course your fabrics or patterned scrapbooking type papers if you don't have fabrics on hand. Scissors, and something to trace with - I like using a fabric marker. Fusible interfacing or fusible fleece - optional.

Step 2: Layout your fabrics and place your bubbles over top moving it around until you find a pattern that you like. Cut around the pattern in a small square and continue with as many fabrics and patterns for the magnets that you want to make. Optional step: Fuse interfacing or fleece to the back of your precut squares on the wrong side of the fabric. This will give the back of your magnets a finished look and keep the fabric from fraying when you cut it and use your magnets.

Step 3: Trace around your bubble and cut out your circle. Repeat with all your cut squares.

Step 4: Using a toothpick, squeeze out some glue and use the toothpick to apply it to the right side of your fabric. Place a nice medium sized glop in the center of the circle. Take your bubble and place it on top of the glue and press firmly and evenly down. The glue will race for the outside edges - be sure to push out any or as many glue bubbles as you can. Set aside to dry and repeat until finished.

Step 5: Using craft or hot glue adhere your magnets to the back and place them right side up to dry. Remember to use a large enough magnet for the size of your craft bubble.

Step 6: Once dry they can dot your fridge, metal file cabinet, etc. Another great idea is to place them in a small container like an altoids tin, wrap it up with some ribbon and you have a great personalized gift to give away! Enjoy!

Push pins

To make push pins for your bulletin board simple use the smaller size craft bubbles and follow steps 1 - 4 as outlined above. Then, instead of gluing a magnet to the back glue a flat headed push pin. Set pin side up to dry.

Tabitha's Personal Tips on How to Get it ALL done !

I'm Tabitha... wife, friend, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and as a mother I'm also chef, laundromat, housekeeper, nurse, photographer... oh yeah, and I work too. I'm not much different than many moms out there really. I love my family and try to be the best at all the roles I play. It's a juggling act sometimes, and making it all happen can be a challenge.
Many times I've been asked, "How do you get it all done?" Well, first of all, it's not ALL done. As I type, there are many loads of laundry waiting to be washed and folded... and I'm sure something else I may have forgotten, but I couldn't do it any other way.

I love my family more than anything and wouldn't trade any of those roles for the world! My husband and I are VERY active in our church, and love it. I'm a graphic designer, and enjoy the creative process. I travel throughout the year as a spokesmodel for Mitsubishi, and it's usually very enjoyable... until I miss home too much. Cooking up treats in the kitchen is a way to bless others, and I wouldn't want to miss out on that either. All the hats I wear bring so much reward, it's definitely worth it!

What helps me is that I live by a few guidelines to assist me:

1) Prioritize

When the dishes need to be done, the baby is crying, someone is at the door and I have a deadline to meet... what do I do?? My first priority is always my family. They come first before anything. We try to put each others needs first, and many things get taken care of that way. I try to incorporate many household tasks into spending time together... we make a game out of folding laundry and matching socks, out of picking up toys, baking in the kitchen, etc. I usually do a few things at once, but not more than I can handle. Oh, and I almost never iron clothes! Pick your battles and leave the rest.

2) Slow Down

I've learned my limit, and when I reach it, I just take a deep breathe and slow down... sometimes the act of slowing down will actually help me think clearer and work faster. Let the clutter go!

3) Get Help

I'm not talking about hiring help... a housekeeper would be nice, but not realistic for me right now. What I mean is that I enlist help from those in my household. My husband is wonderful with my daughter, and we take turns giving her baths and putting her to bed. My 2 year-old's hands can hold a dust rag just as well as mine can, so she helps out with cleaning. Don't try to take on every task by yourself. You've got help around you, use it. Sometimes you have to ask for it. People might be more than willing to help, but they can't read your mind... ASK. Do what only you can do or what you do really well, and let others in your life help with some of the other tasks, it'll be more rewarding for all involved.

4) Put it Down

On paper, that is. Get in the habit of getting it out of your head. It you can think it, you can write it. Then your mind will be free to think about the task at hand and not worried about remembering what you've got to do next.

5) Master It

Learn how to say "no." That was a hard one for me. I don't like telling people no. I don't want to disappoint. My husband really helped me with learning this. One night, after crying because I felt too stressed, we figured out what I had committed myself to that I really shouldn't have... there were too many things going on. From then on, I learned to wait to say "yes" until I knew it was something I really wanted or something I knew I could handle.

My guidelines or priorities may be different than yours, but figure out what works for you and stick to it!

By the way, one of the things I enjoy is making healthy and delicious goodies in the kitchen. A new one that my family has enjoyed this year is Pumpkin Butter! I like to bring out my kid's artwork, to add a personal touch! I store they're holiday artwork with the other holiday decorations.

Pumpkin Cobbler-Crisp

1 c oatmeal

1/2 c flour

1/3 c sugar

1/3 c brown sugar

3/4 cup liquid egg substitute

1 can (12 ounces) evaporated skim milk

Filling:

1(15-ounce)can pumpkin(2 cups)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Spray a large baking sheet and 9 by 13 inch pan with nonstick baking spray and set aside.

Place oatmeal in blender or food processor ad process briefly. You should still be able to see some oatmeal flakes, as well as some powder.

In medium-size bowl, mix together processed oatmeal, flour and sugars. Add the butter and water, and mix together with your fingertips until crumbly.

Spread crumbs on prepared baking sheet, sprinkle chopped nuts over it and bake 5 minutes.

Remove from oven and break up ino pea-size pieces. Set aside to cool.

or Filling: Mix together pumpkin, egg substitute and sugar. Mix in cinnamon and ginger. Slowly pour milk in while stirring, until thoroughtly mixed.

Pour into prepared 9-by-13 inch pan.

Bake for 20 minutes, then sprinkle the oatmeal crumbs evenly over the top of the pumpkin; lightly press the crumbs into pumpkin.

Bake another 20 minutes.

Make 12 servings.

How does it work?

Sadie's Craft Ideas- Pot Holders

INSTRUCTIONS:

Supplies you need: a pot holder, snack bags (they are like sandwich bags but smaller), 1 button, and a sewing machine. (If you don't have a sewing machine, you could probably sew it with a needle and thread.)

1. Obtain a pot holder.

2. Sew a big button on the center of the opposite end of the loop. (Sew it on the side that everyone will see when it's closed.)

3. Stack at least 10 bags evenly and sew the end without the zip lock right in the center of the pot holder.

4. You can also stack a cute ribbon on the top of the bags so that it could look cuter.

You can use it as a sewing kit, a first aid kit, or just to keep anything you want to put in your purse that you might loose because it's too little. Mine has band aids, dental floss, quarters, safety pins, a nail file, matches, a little bar of soap, toothpicks, a little pair of scissors, etc.

That is it! Isn't it simple? It's also a very inexpensive project. You can make them and fill the little bags and give them to friends for Christmas. Gotta run! I'm going to the store to buy some cute pot holders. I think I saw some at the dollar store.

Wheat Sacks Tutorial

I found this wonderful tutorial for crafters who sew, it's a great way to use up extra fabric!

This a fun, easy and quick project that is great to give a gifts anytime of the year! and easier on the figure than a plate of sweets.

Wheat Sack

supplies needed:
sewing machine thread
fabric - at least a fat quarter
wheat (You can use rice too. I have been told that the Wheat holds heat better longer)
essential oil - you pick the scent

Step 1: Pick the fabric you like. You can create a pattern using paper for future/multiple use or just measure your piece and cut. I usually cut my fabric to be about 14 x10 inches.

Step 2: Fold your fabric, right sides together so you piece will now measure about 7x10. Sew down 2 sides together leaving one of the short ends open. You can trim your corner or any excess fabric if you want to.

Step 3: Turn your fabric inside out so the right side of the fabric is showing. Give it a quick press with a hot iron to press out your seams and make the fabric looks crisp.

Step 4: Pour your wheat into a large bowl. (this can be purchased in the bulk section of your grocery store for very cheap) Add a few drops of essential oil (optional). This creates a nice aroma as the wheat is heated up. Some of the favorites are lavendar, vanilla, lilac, etc. Stir the wheat to help distribute the oil.

Step 5: Fill your sack with wheat. If you are making a sack this size, I like to use about 3 1/2 cups. Anywhere between 3 -4 cups is a good amount.

Step 6: Turn under the top (open) edge about a 1/2 inch. I just hold both sides of the open edge and turn it under lining up the to seams at the top. It's quick and easy ;)

Step 7: Pin the edge you have just turned under and sew

Step 8: You are finished! You can make these in any size, shape or fabric. They work well for both women and men. I made one using the logo and colors of our local football team for a teacher's husband who is a big fan!

Step 9: You can package them any way you like but I always attached a little poem with them.

Microwave for 1 to 2 minutes
on HIGH and kiss those aches
and pains goodbye.

Apply it to the troubled spot,

The heat will ease the pain a lot.

Or warm those little toes, so cold.

You'll find this nice to
have and to hold.

Or freeze it for a little while,

And fix that boo-boo up in style.

Instead of a compress made of ice,

Use this pillow of wheat that feels so nice!

HALLOWEEN is just around the corner! Look at our fun Halloween items!

For October I made orange/black TuTu's. Look at how cute my little "neighbor girls" look in their TuTu's!

I can make them in every color you can imagine. The red/green for Christmas looks absolutely amazing! I've also made matching TuTu headbands! I live in Idaho and visit in Utah quite often. I also visit blogs and websites, and I have seen tons of headbands with flowers and bows......but I've never seen any TuTu headbands. I think they are awesome! The mothers of my little models loved them!
